Learn how to paint, draw, or spin a ceramics wheel and get in touch with your artistic side by taking an art class.
There are many recreational art schools near our apartments in Anne Arundel County that welcome all artists of all levels, that include:
Columbia Art Center (16 minute drive)
The Columbia Art Center is a popular destination among locals with a creative eye. It offers year-round classes, along with a Japanese garden and a gift shop where both the instructors and students alike sell their handcrafted works. The lessons range from ceramics to flower arranging.
Try the Fused Glass Bowl Sample Workshop. Back by popular demand, students make a unique fused glass bowl in a fun, lighthearted setting. The next session is on December 7th, and light refreshments will be available.
The ClayGround Studio & Gallery (20 minute drive)
Located in nearby Ellicott City, ClayGround features a community art studio and retail gallery under one roof. The instructors offer wheel throwing and hand-building pottery, along with mosaic and fused glass classes. Sessions are offered daily, and students can also shop for one-of-a-kind functional works by local artists in the gallery.
Try out the hand-building class. Perfect for beginners, it allows participants to explore their creative side through clay. Everyone will decorate and glaze their piece before it’s fired in the kiln.
Jubilee Arts (26 minute drive)
Jubilee strives to bring the arts back to Baltimore and the surrounding communities. The center offers a laid-back atmosphere, and students learn ceramics, creative writing, line dancing, and so much more. The highly skilled instructors encourage creativity and allow everyone to work at their own pace.
One of the offerings includes Creative Arts. In this unique class, students use inexpensive materials and household objects to explore candle and soap making, as well as fun paper projects.
