The history of the theater can be traced back to sixth century B.C. Today, it’s one of the most popular forms of entertainment around the world.
Whether you enjoy dramas, comedies, or musicals, visit one of these theaters near our apartments in Anne Arundel County where you’re sure to experience a night to remember:
When the Hippodrome opened in 1914, it was a movie palace that also showcased vaudeville performances. The weekly attendance was around 30,000, and a Moller organ provided sound for the movies. Business declined in the ’70s and ’80s. When the Hippodrome closed in 1990, it was downtown Baltimore’s last operating movie theatre. The curtain rose again in 2004, and the theatre now hosts comedies, dance troupes, and touring Broadway shows. The Hippodrome Theatre is a 23-minute drive from our apartments.
At Everyman, located just a 25-minute drive away, each season of plays fosters a diverse range of human experiences. The theatre strives to engage the audience, and an average of 45,000 tickets are sold annually. Performances range from the timeless classics to world premieres. Everyman is one of only a handful of theatres in the United States featuring an ensemble of actors who regularly perform. The actors have a bond and push each other to deliver the best performance possible.
